Now that I’ve got that song stuck in your head…
This weekend we visited Texas-Tulips in Pilot Point, Texas. I found and have followed them on the Facebook for a couple of years. Last year Covid cut things off before we had a chance to plan. This year we pushed ahead anyway.
Overall, it was a good day. Spending time with family is always good for me. But we learned the hard way it’s better to hit up places like this earlier in their season and on a weekday.
The tulips were pretty well picked over. They’d apparently had a mass of people the day before. And the week before was spring break. There were many tulips yet to bloom but not quite ready for us.
The wind was also a bit of a nuisance. (Hello March, in like a lion.) But it was at least a sunny and dry day. It’s definitely worth the effort to visit the tulip rows. It’s relatively inexpensive and overall a nice outdoorsy thing to do.

We all managed to find a few stems worth picking. I set mine up in a vase and was thrilled to see my parrot tulip opened up nicely. I took the opportunity to photograph her.
If you’re in the north Texas area I do recommend a spring visit to Texas-Tulips.
